Today – Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick asked the Texas Senate to study 84 charges during the interim, before the 88th Legislative Session begins. That gives us seven months to study the issues before the prefiling of legislation begins!
“The interim charges I released today reflect my priorities, the priorities Texans shared with me as I traveled the state and those of the members of the Texas Senate. Senators submitted nearly 600 policy recommendations for the Senate to study before next session” Patrick said upon the release.
In addition to the overall charges, Patrick put out a few he wanted to highlight such as electricity, boarder security, criminal justice issues and protecting the unborn.
After two years of Covid, healthcare workforce issues will be studied, as will the use of Covid Funds, pandemic response, and supply chain issues.
On the business issues, property tax reform will see several studies. Economic development, broadband, cybersecurity, and inflation will also be on the table.
In healthcare – mental health, long-term care funding, public health data and Medicaid will also be closely examined.
